Clayton was born in Jackson, MS July 24, 1924 and moved to Texas after the dearth of his mother, when he was 16.

He joined the Air Corps in 1943; served as CFC Gunner on Crew 24 flying 23 combat missions during WWII.

He met his wife Janice Hobson in Hawaii on V.J. Day while his crew was on leave. After is his discharge they moved to San Antonio, TX where he began a reengineering program at San Antonio College in fall of 1946.

He began is professional career in December 1949 as a Junior Draftsman in the Engineering Section of CPS.

He was recalled for military service in 1950 and then returned to CPS; He was promoted to draftsman in January 1954 and in May promoted to Technician transferring from the Electrical Section to the Underground section.

In 1958, Wall was promoted to Senior Technician.

In 1966 he was promoted to Senior Technical Engineer.

He transferred to Customer Service Department in 1971 upon his promotion to the Director of Field Services, a position he held until his retirement on July 31, 1989.

He loved sports. While attending San Antonio College he excelled in basketball and was the first athlete ever to be awarded the Hallmark Trophy; he also earned the Outstanding Sportsman Trophy and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and National Honor Society. He played basketball and softball for the Marines and City Recreation Center. He was also a Score Keeper and an Umpire who was highly regarded by state and college coaches alike.

Clayton and Janice have 3 daughters Susan, Patricia and Joan and 6 grandchildren.
