William F. Brown was inducted into service 16 April 1943 and entered into active service on 23 April 1943. He was sharpshooter carbine rated according to his record of separation.

Brown's trained at Chevrolet Corp. Engine Specialists School in Detroit as well as at Keelser Field in Mississippi.

He departed the US in 17 January 1945 and arrived on Guam 18 February 45. After spending 1 year, 1 month and 3 days as an Aircraft & Engine Mechanic (MOS: 747), he departed the Marianas on 5 February 1946 and arrived back in the US on 18 February and separating from the service with an Honorable Discharge on 27 February 1946 through the Separation Center at Fort Devens, MA.

Prior to his induction into the service, William worked as Pipe Fitter's helper.
