He was a great man like so many forged in the fires of war.

He was a loving father who later in life dealt with the loss of both his sons.

He was one of the toughest, funniest, & most decent men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

He married Elisabeth Roob. They had 3 children. 2 sons the late William E. (III) & the late James R. who passed away in 2000 and a daughter Virginia.; 6 grandchildren.

Later he married Mary Delong who has 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
