7 August 1945
A daylight formation attack with GP bombs likewise lent to the burning program on 7 August 1945. The target was the naval arsenal at Toyokawa, 37 miles southeast of Nagoya. The installation was Japan's number one producer of naval ammunition and one of the ten major naval arsenals in the empire. 12 aircraft from the group joined the attack.
If there had been any doubt of the weakness of the Nip air force this late in the game, the show of force they put on at Toyokawa show had dispelled it. No enemy fighters were even sighted. Flak damage at the target was meager, but one of our bombers sustained minor damaged.
Damage assessment was made from strike photos, and the Twentieth Air Force characterized the results as good to excellent.
